The 2016 SPEAK UP Walk for Mental Health Awareness
On a beautiful Sunday morning, October 9, 2016, some scouts and leaders from Troop 324 participated in the 2016 Speak Up Walk to raise awareness for mental health issues.
This event honored the memory on Jason Arkin, our brother Troop 324 Eagle Scout, who died by suicide in 2015. Participants walked the trail at Ironwoods Park, heard some inspirational speakers and a lot of important information about how we should be aware of and actively talk about mental illness, depression, and other issues.
Maybe the coolest moment the SPEAKUP team released a dozen white doves, who gathered into a flock, circled the area 3 times, and then flew away into the sky. This was truly an inspirational moment.

Troop 324 honors Jason’s memory. We are proud Jason was a Scout in Troop 324.
